Introducing a new blog...

There was a new blog entry I had planned to run, but due to some advice, I opted to hold back running that entry until the ideal moment.

But I wanted to call attention to a new blog venture of mine that was just launched. For X-Files fans and people who follow this blog, "Music from the Big Chair" is a 90 degree departure, but for those who have an interest in articles, or personal testimonials about music, I hope this can get your undivided attention.

This does not mean that attention will be pulled away from the Lexicon Blog, we will be featuring a slate of interesting material, nor that the main site, The X-Files Lexicon, will be affected, we will continue to be adding a lot more material, as well as some potentially interesting and exciting interviews, and we hope to see a new wave of original reference content soon.

You might have noticed that we already added this blog to our "My Blog List", and I hope you'll be enticed to check in with it. I'm excited to have created this new venture, and I believe you might find it informative, hopefully insightful, and motivational.

Ever onward...

Hi Editors of The X-Files Lexicon Blog:

As a horror fan, we’re excited to introduce you to Dark Ride Entertainment (www.darkrideentertainment.com), a new production company started by sci-fi/horror genre geeks for fellow sci-fi/horror genre geeks. Dark Ride’s 8 low-budget, quality genre films will be fully funded by Struans Media (www.struansmedia.com) and will be completed by 2015.

Filmmaker William Butler (Return of the Living Dead series for SyFy, Madhouse, Furnace) and John Vulich, a 3-time Emmy award winner for his special effects work on “The X-Files" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer” TV shows, give Dark Ride special insight into making quality horror in a cost effective manner, thanks to their years of experience in FX.

Dark Ride’s first production, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi/horror film titled “Hell Storm,”will begin shooting in late summer 2012 in Los Angeles.

Please see below for the full press release and if you’d like additional information, or to speak with William Butler, John Vulich or Struans Media, please let me know.

Thanks and best regards,
Courtney

HORROR, SCI-FI GENRE VETS LAUNCH DARK RIDE ENTERTAINMENT WITH INVESTMENT FROM STRUANS MEDIA

Creative Team of Emmy-Award Winning Filmmakers To Release Eight Low-Budget Genre Films In Two Years

June 12, 2012 – Los Angeles – Award-winning veterans of the horror/sci-fi genres today announced the launch of Dark Ride Entertainment (http://www.darkrideentertainment.com) and its partnership with Struans Media (www.struansmedia.com). Struans Media’s financial investment in Dark Ride will fully fund its first slate of eight genre films to be completed by 2015.

“Dark Ride was created to fill a void in fun, entertaining horror and sci-fi films with great production values that can be made at an affordable cost,” said William Butler, President, Dark Ride Entertainment. “The team at Dark Ride has all done this successfully before; we’re fortunate to have developed a cost effective system of production, and we’re excited to go on this ride with Struans Media. It's great to embark on this journey at a time when Hollywood is realizing you don’t always need big names and big budgets to create films that are both entertaining and profitable."

Dark Ride’s creative team includes filmmaker William Butler, who previously directed “Madhouse” for Lionsgate/Lakeshore, “Furnace” for Weinstein Co. and has written for the SyFy Channel. John Vulich, who has won three Emmy Awards for special effects and makeup on “The X-Files” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” television series, is vice president and will lend his producing and extensive special and visual effects resources to the productions.

“Dark Ride’s creative team’s track record and vision makes them the perfect partners for Struans Media,” said George Malasek, CEO, Struans Media. “Our goal has always been to fully finance projects we are passionate about that will entertain a wide audience of fans and by investing in Dark Ride, we are accomplishing this goal.”

The first film will be “Hell Storm,” a post-apocalyptic sci-fi/horror project written and directed by Butler, filming in Los Angeles in late summer 2012. The films will all be executive produced by Struans Media partners George Malasek and John Cole. Overseeing physical production is Emmy Award-winning writer-producer Peter Garcia.
